Etimologia

Il nome deriva dal fiume omonimo Itata, lungo circa 140mwdw km, del mweaCile meridionale.

Distribuzione

Le cinque specie oggi note di questo genere sono diffuse in mwewAmerica meridionale e mwfacentrale: si tratta di ben quattro mwfqendemismi; una sola specie, la mwfgI. tipuloides rinvenuta in mwgaPerù, mwgqBolivia e mwggBrasilecite-ref-salticidae-1-0[1].

Specie trasferite

• mwrwItata leucoprocta mwsamwsqMello-Leitão, 1947; trasferita al genere mwsgCotinusa mwswmwtaSimon, 1900, con la denominazione di Cotinusa leucoprocta mwtg(Mello-Leitão, 1947), a seguito di un lavoro dell'aracnologa mwtwGaliano del 1980cite-ref-salticidae-1-2[1].
